I’ve not yet been myself (was all booked for my first ever trip there…in February, 2020 😔), and have SO MANY burning questions about how folks in China are navigating their forking paths to the New Enlightenment through the Great Progression. Interesting, to say the least. Certainly these technologies are inevitable and will quickly change our societies. BUT! Your conclusions at the end of the second video should be of priority concern to everyone.
While American capitalism only work for the top 10%, mostly the top 1%, the standard of living for the remaining 80% is unmatched in history. I don’t advocate for the congregation of wealth at the top. We need to change the enabling structures. Global governance will only compound the problems associated with this congregation of wealth and is not required to reap the benefits from these technologies. At least I fail to see the bridge in your messaging. These elites are the advocates of globalism thru destructive policies of open borders, climate change, cashless societies, etc.. The much needed structural changes don’t require forgiveness of our freedoms and certainly don’t require the advocated taxation to resolve fictional climate change concerns bringing countries to their economic knees and leading to an unprecedented level of global corruption.
Our young people will not be better off embracing global governance simply because of apparent momentum. Rather, they should recognize that our freedom is of upmost importance and Nationalism is needed at this time in order to avoid the horrific mistakes repeated throughout world history.
Yes, that reference to global governance at the very end of that second video is problematic - from my perspective too. The problem is that I gave Freethink, the producers of those videos, close to a three hour interview laying out a bunch of ideas that I have developed over the years. I had laid out six mega inventions that came out of The Enlightenment 250 years ago and speculated on another six possible ones that might come out of what we might understand as the New Enlightenment of the 21st century. The three that they referenced briefly included Global Governance, but they did not include any of the things I said about that. I had speculated that the innovation of Nation States from The Enlightenment might be superseded by some form of Global Governance as we 10 billion human beings on planet Earth have to develop better ways to coordinate all the planetary systems that will continue to emerge, partly to deal with the planetary challenges we will increasingly face like more pandemics. I was not taking about a cabal of elites who run the planet but new mechanisms for global coordination that might even take advantage of the new capabilities of AI. None of that came through. I also did not say that this will come about in the next 25 years but perhaps across the whole 21st century. All that nuance was left on the cutting room table. But it might be developed further in another video to come. I have no control over those videos or their edits. I was the talent who they interviewed. So we’ll see.
The current (50+ years) push toward global governance is lead by more dangerous groups than previous imperialists throughout history. Many are hoping intelligent influencers like yourself reconsider this advocacy. It’s certainly not because we don’t see the bigger picture.
Here’s a whole essay I wrote previously in this series where I lay out the civilization scale changes that may come, including some form of global governance. That new form of governance will probably coexist with other forms of more local governance, like what American states have with the federal government.
