The Positive Reframe of Everything Going on Around Us Today
This new hour-long interview of me by Big Think is the best distillation ever of all the ideas that will culminate in my upcoming book about our historic moment and what's coming in the next 25 years
I’ve done a lot of interviews over the years but this video of my recent full interview with Big Think is the best one that has ever been produced — hands down. I’m not the only one who seems to think so since this video is taking off since its release a few days ago with now about 140,000 views, 4,000 likes and 700 comments.
The Big Think interview is a prestigious one since they have been doing video interviews of many of the leading thinkers in the world since they started in 2008. They now have a collection of 2000 videos with many well-known characters who you would recognize.
Some of you may have seen a shorter 15-minute version of some of the ideas from my Big Think interview that went viral on YouTube once in the summer with 1.6 million views, and then again in the fall with about another 2.5 million views.
This new video is a full hour of all those ideas in more depth but also a bunch of others that flip the narrative of gloom and doom, and make the case that we’re actually entering a period of great progress and heading towards a much better world.
You get the key ideas running through The Great Progression of our three world-historic technologies, and then the concept of how we’re entering the Fourth Reinvention of America, and then a big-picture look at the civilization-scale changes that are to come this century that will rival those of The Enlightenment in the 18th century.
This is not a writing post but a simple post to get you to watch this video in Substack by clicking the image above or watch it on Big Think’s channel on YouTube.
I’ll have more essays coming, and an update on the process of writing the book, but the most useful hour you can spend is watching this video from beginning to end.
Think of the experience like you are sitting across from me in a conversation where you don’t have to ask any questions and can just kick back and drink a beer or a glass of wine and wonder — what if this guy is right?

I just subscribedto the Great Progression and wanted to acknowledge how fresh and thoughtful your message and research are to me. Although no one knows how the future will turn out, I believe that the power of one mind influences other minds, and when enough minds see a future together, they can create it.
For better or worse, that seems to be what's happening here in the States already, but now that I have your insights to share, maybe the world does get better.
I subscribe to the Big Think and just watched your interview. Wow. We must be connected somehow. I am preparing to publish my first fiction novel, which is totally aligned with your futuristic predictions. I would love it if you would like to read it before publishing. The title is "The Love Boat 2120", and the main character is a musician who has just graduated from college and gets his first full-time gig on an interplanetary cruise ship. He is a student of history and recounts much of the past 100 years that have led up to the development of space tourism.
